This is my dad and my bubba.

They shaved their beards off together one night cause my mom asked my bubba to do it cause he hadn't shaved his beard off in over 40 years and she thought it'd be fun to see what he looks like clean shaven. Bubba begrudgingly did it but I think in the end he had fun. Mom also informed my Dad that he was shaving his beard off along with Bubba and didn't really even ask him but more like just told him that he was doing it. But my dad doesn't care, he'll do anything for my mom. He's crazy about her. Or maybe just plain crazy.

December 26th, 2007

This is a shot of me that my mom took. I'm in my room at home looking out the french doors to the back deck. You can see in this shot I'm holding onto my diaper pail and I've been doing this for awhile, pulling myself up and standing, and cruising around and stuff. But now I've started standing on my own without holding onto anything. Today I stood for about a minute on my own when I was with my dad and my Uncle Brant. My dad was impressed. But I could fart and my dad would be impressed. It doesn't take much to make him happy. He just sees me sometimes and gets so happy. He's an "easy mark" is what I call him.

A sleigh ride! A sleigh ride! We're going on a sleigh ride!

Okay, the sleigh ride didn't work - me and Lola were too heavy, the rope is too short, my mom is too weak and a pussy about the cold and my Dad is too scared to get hit by a snowball cause he's also a pussy and throws a snowball like a girl and Aunt Natasha is too worried about Cosmo getting hit by a car. No one will remember it this way but it's the way it went down. Bananagrams anyone?

December 24th, 2007

This is my snowflake hat. Aunt Natasha gave it to me to wear while I'm in Canada.

Did you know there are no two snowflakes alike? Each one is unique. That's true, I heard a scientist say it yesterday on NPR. They were talking about how the ice caps are melting and that polar bears are running out of ice flows to live on and how they're deciding that polar bears should be put on the endangered list soon. Global warming. I'm warm right now in my hat.

This year is my first Christmas. I'm going to visit my mommy's family in Canada. There will be snow there and a Christmas tree and lots of presents and many conversations about what meals we're having and who's in charge of making them. I'm very excited. I tried on my Christmas day outfit today and I have to admit I look awfully cute in it.

The one thing I don't like is pineapple.
So I will share my ride with it
but don't make me eat it.

These are my good friends Rick Bland and Rachel Hamilton.
They came to visit me for a few days in December. This is a picture of us when we went to Griffith park for a walk. It was my first time to visit the park since the big fire closed it to the public in the summer. I love Rick and Rachel. They played with me on campus and watched me climb stairs which I just love to do a lot these days. Some would say it's my favorite hobby. Rick made spaghetti sauce and there was talk the next day that it was quite good.

This is my mom's friend Rick.
That's my mom's breast feeding pillow on his big head.
Uncle Rick has a huge head.
But he's super fun.
We had a good laugh.
And he makes the best guacamole.
Hurry back to visit Uncle Rick.
I miss you.
Love, Jaffe (cocktail waitress)

This is my friend Ross. He came to see me in Los Angeles for the first time when I was 9 months old. He was so fun to have around. I sat on his knee while he talked to all his friends on Facebook all day. We went to the beach and hiking and drank loads of Marilyn Monroe Merlot. He's coming back in April to see us again. Hurry back Uncle Ross! I miss you already.

October 31st, 2007

This is my first Halloween. I dressed as a bear all day long and people told my mom I was very cute. I was pretty cute I guess, but honestly, no more than usual. Then we went trick-or-treating in the neighborhood and it was fun.

Great Gram,
Hi! How are you? Remember when we took this picture? I miss you. I wanted to say hi and show you another picture. It's me and my daddy dancing together at a class called Music Together. It's really fun. We go Saturday mornings, pretty early, you're probably still in bed with the blinds drawn. Anyway, we listen to music and sing songs and play instruments and dance. Okay, that's all I wanted to tell you. See you soon when we come to visit in Tucson. My mom told me to tell you, "Don't set your bed on fire cause I wanna see you again!"
Love,
Jaffe

It's my Aunt Natasha's birthday today. I wanted to call her but my mom kept saying, "Yeah we will, we'll do it later." Of course we never did call her. Ugh. Can't wait till I can talk for myself. Cause I'd like to tell Natasha that I did not forget her birthday. I was mad at mom for a minute but then I forgot when we went to the park and I got to go on the swing. I love swinging!!

This is us in Vancouver! Vancouver is the most beautiful city in British Columbia. We also went to Seattle on this trip and visited with Rob and Kim and their kids. Good times. Yeah, I guess you could say I travel quite a bit.

The important thing to note here is that my mom had no control over the clothing she was made to wear.

This is my friend Munai.
She lives in Tucson. I feel like that is too far away right now. I never see her. And it would be better if she moved to Los Angeles, where it's cooler anyway and she could come with me to Mommie & Me movies at The Grove and Mommie & Me Yoga and also the beach to walk the dogs on Sunday mornings. So, you see how that's a good idea, right?

September 3rd, 2007

I've started crawling. And it's okay I guess. But, you know, you're on the floor, and then when I put my hands in my mouth I get a lot of dog hair and dirt on my tongue. And, besides broccoli, I would say I hate dog hair the most.

The thing I'm more interested in is pulling myself up and I started doing that a few days ago. Standing is great! And then today I pulled myself up to standing, holding onto a bench, and then cruised around it. Fun times.

August 17th, 2007

I went to the doctor today. My 6 month check up. They weighed me. I am 13 pounds, 2 ounces and 25 inches long. I'm below the 5th percentile. I'm tiny but mom noticed that I wasn't gaining any weight for the last month but then I gained 2 ounces this week so that's good. My head is a good size around too, but I'm not sure exactly how big or what percentile, but it has to be big enough for my huge brain, am I right!
Anyway, I'm also eating food now which is great. I'm eating four or five different foods and I like it all, just keep it coming and one thing- don't make me wait so long in the high chair. Like, don't get me all strapped in and then take your sweet time in the kitchen preparing it. Of course I'm gonna get all antsy and start crying, I mean, look at it this way- you don't call the family to the dinner table and THEN proceed to make dinner, making everyone wait for an hour. Well, I'd like the same respect please.

My mom has gray hair. She says her mother gave it to her and that's why her mother should pay for her dye job every month. Anyway, this is the pretty lady who colors my mommy's gray hair back to brown. Her name is Shula and she is very pretty and has tons of clothes. I've never seen her wear the same outfit twice.

My mom lifted me out of my crib this morning and I put my arms around her neck. Then she cried a little.

August 9th, 2007

Today I am 6 months old.
I crawled a bit. My mommy got it on video on her little picture camera and she's gonna post it soon.
I also started saying "mum" a lot. At first my mommy thought, "Oh how sweet, but it's just babble." But I've said it so much the past week or so that she's now decided that I AM referring to her, that I have said my first word and it's "mum."
I'm gonna tell you something - I am referring to her, I mean, who else?

July 28th, 2007

I weigh 13 pounds right now. Today I sat up unassisted for the first time. Sure, I'm a bit wobbly but I did it! Also Lola shared her pacifier with me, we passed it back and forth three times.

This is me with Lola, Auntie Natasha and Poppa. We're at Mamie's baseball game where I watched her hit the ball and run to first base and also she played catcher.
She was good...for an old broad!

MY VISIT TO CANADA
I'm visiting my mommy's family in Canada. They speak two official languages here, so anytime I read the cereal box or the Tylenol bottle I can read it in French or in English. How sophisticated!

My mamie speaks French to me sometimes 'cause that's her first language. When she talks in English she has an accent, like when she says "things" it sounds like "tings." But I know what she means.

Canada is a lovely country. If I was a Canadian and I got sick or broke my leg I could go to the hospital and not worry about having to pay a big bill cause I have crappy insurance. Everyone here is equal when it comes to health care. Good idea Canada! Why don't we do this in America?

This is my life jacket that I wear at the cottage when I go down on the dock and swim in the lake. Just to be safe. 'Cause you know what they say- better safe than sorry.

This is the whole Antzis family all together.

I went to Tucson for my Grams birthday. She turned 65! And she doesn't look a day over 63! My mom wrote that, it's supposed to be a joke 'cause really my Gram looks FABULOUS! Maybe cause she's young at heart.

This is my friend La-La-Linda. La-La-Linda is a public school teacher. She teaches second grade. A couple years ago one of her students took a gun he found under the couch at home and shot himself in the head. He didn't realize the gun was real. His mother was devastated. La-La-Linda is a wonderful teacher who spends all her own time and money on her kids in her class. My friend Shula's brother, Zack, said that the American government has it backwards - we should be investing time and money on children as they are developing their brains, instead we put all our money into educating teenagers and young adults at college long after their brains are already formed. Then he looked at me and said, "Am I right?" I just smiled at him 'cause really I don't know the answer, I'm just a baby.

June 20th, 2007

Well, I slept in my own crib last night. I slept all night. 11 1/2 hours. My mom is extremely happy today. She's calling everyone and telling them how long I slept. Jeez, I coulda done that way earlier if I knew how happy it'd make her.

This is a picture of me in my playground. I love my playground, there's lots of things hanging from the bars to play with and I can just lie here and hit the things or grab them and put them in my mouth. I am enjoying putting everything in my mouth right now to taste it and feel it. I can also shriek with joy and babble a lot using my outside voice. Then I also started rolling over quite a bit which is really fun. I go both ways. I'm a bi-roller. I roll from my back to my front and look around and then I bend my one leg up and lay my head back and just let it roll from my front to my back again. Yeah, it's pretty easy I guess. I mean, once you know how to do something it's easy and fun. Am I right?

Mother has stroller envy. She cannot pass a woman pushing her child in a stroller without looking at it and thinking her life would somehow be better if she could have THAT stroller. There are so many strollers out there too. My God! Bugaboo Strollers, for example, there's the Bugaboo Gecko. The functional minimalism keeps your child comfortable in the woods, back in the city and even on the beach. A unique 3-in-1 design adapts for car seats, reversible bassinet and reversible seat. How can you not want one! While your child slumbers in her bassinet, you tuck her in the corner of the tapas bar allowing you to comfortably sip cocktails in the late afternoon with the other moms. And for only $759.00 - it's a "must-have!"
And there are so many more, The Joovy caboose, The Maclaren Twin Triumph, The Peg Perego, the list goes on.
Then there's The Jogger. We have one of those. We use it when we take Maggie and Finlay to Elysian Park. I'm not sure why they call it a Jogger though 'cause mommy just walks and pants the whole way.

This is my ride.
Mommy calls it my taxi.
It's a Graco.
Graco was rated the safest infant car seat in an article in the LA Times in January 2007. So mommy ran out and bought one right away. Actually her friend Pat bought it for her. What a nice guy. Anyway, I was sitting in my taxi today and thinking about my feet. I noticed my feet last week for the first time and they are great. I held one in my hand and I'm thinking right now that later tonight when I get home I'm gonna put one of my feet in my mouth.

I went to see Dr. Sweeny today and had more shots. I like Dr. Sweeny, he has a good sense of humor. A good sense of humor is the most important thing when you pick a doctor. I know this because when my mommy and daddy changed insurance companies after daddy got his new job at Funny or Die they were worried about getting to stay with Dr. Sweeny and they said it was because he had a good sense of humor.
Today they weighed me and checked how tall I am. I guess right now I'm not really tall but rather just long. 24 inches long. I am 12 and a half pounds and they said I was in the 30 percentile.
Then me and mommy went for breakfast with Gram and Grampa. They took us to The Coffee Table. Mommy ordered bacon and Grampa wanted to eat some of it but then he decided it wasn't crunchie enough and so mommy got to eat all three pieces.

This is me with my cousin Sloan and her new boyfriend. Sloan is a wonderful journalist and also beautiful like royalty. Her boyfriend is so nice and also takes a fabulous picture. At least that's what my daddy said, and then my mommy said, "Have you always been so gay?"

This is me with my cousin Cody. Isn't she so pretty! When I grow up I hope she'll show me how short to keep my skirt.
