February 18th, 2007

This is a tip:
If you click on this picture, or any picture in my blog, you can make it big and see it really well.

These are my girlfriends Nia and Renee.
Can you see how pretty they are!

This is when they came to check out my room the first time.
Nia is a Canadian girl so she's very nice and has good manners, like for example, she will always send you a thank-you card after attending your house for a party. Renee, well, she doesn't quite have the manners Nia has but she can play a mean accordian and tell a good dirty joke that's why everyone puts up with her. Mom told dad, she worries that someday Renee will show me how to give a good BJ and then it'll all be over for me. I'm not sure what that means but I know I like learning and I hear Renee is the expert.

These are my parents.
My mom is Tamara and my dad is Drew. This is a picture of them in Thailand, where they went on their honeymoon. That's where I was conceived. My mom says it happened in a fertility cave on the last day of their trip but I think she might be making that up. My mom thinks my dad is very handsome, she's always telling me that, and also that I look exactly like him. "A little Drew face on a girl body." she says. Everyone says I look just like my dad. It's a fact of nature that babies are born looking like their fathers so that men won't abandon their families. Anyway my dad says he doesn't see the similarities. He says, "Well she has my ears, that's all I can see." I love my dad. He's so calm and relaxed. My mom... has more energy, let's say. She runs around doing all kinds of things and tells everyone how busy she always is. But really she's not that busy, she just can't sit still. My mom is worried that I'll hate her one day, she says this might happen when I'm a teenager. But I know she hates teenagers. So maybe she'll hate me and then we'll both hate each other until I'm not a teenager anymore. I hope not. Mom says to dad all the time that she'll travel to Africa from when I'm 13 to 19 and miss those teenage years. My dad's not sure if she's serious or not.

This is my Mamie and Papie. My Mamie Cathou is beautiful. I am so lucky to have her. She is helping my mom recover right now, and she is doing everything. She is doing laundry all the time and she changes my diaper and then we sit in the rocking chair and she sings to me in French. She has a beautiful voice. I love her so much. I am going to miss her when she leaves and my mom sometimes cries at night wondering how she is going to take care of me and do all that laundry without her mommy.

These are my daddy's parents.
They are super cool.
They were hippies in the sixties, living in New York and getting high all the time. Well, not Gram. She worked for a record company until she had my Uncle Darren and then she quit to take care of the baby and Grampa supported the family with his head shop in Queens. After my daddy was born they decided to take a long road trip with a camper. (The picture above is from that trip when their hair was all super long, even my dad's, which makes him look like a little girl) They loved it so much they decided the only important thing is being together as a family so they left the hustle and bustle of New York and traveled out west to Tucson, Arizona. That's where my dad grew up. My gram and grampa have a big beautiful house there now that grampa keeps very cold with air conditioning. "It's like an ice box in here!" says my dad every time he visits.

Anyway, my dad called them as soon as he and mommy went into the hospital to have me and they drove all the way to Los Angeles right away. They are helping my mom so much right now, as she adjusts to having me around. Mom said Gram Arlene is "waiting on me hand and foot and I'm so lucky to have the best in-laws."
I love my gram and grampa so much sometimes I just cry.

February 10th, 2007

It's the day after I was born and it's the most exciting day so far in my life because we're gonna leave the hospital and go home and I get to see my room and meet my two dogs, Finlay & Maggie, and also my other grandparents, my moms parents, Mamie Cathou and Papie Dawson. I'm named after Papie Dawson. I'm so excited I just peed my pants. But before we leave the hospital I have to do an ear test and also the Doctor needs to check me out to make sure it's okay to go home early. My mom wants to "Get the fuck out of here!" Apparently my dad had to sleep on a chair last night which wasn't comfortable for him, and mom is still quite upset that there wasn't a lactation consultant sent to the room to help her with breastfeeding. "Oh, but there's Similac everywhere!" she keeps saying.
We had so many visitors today. I felt very popular. Ray, my mom and dad's old roommate, came to meet me. He moved out of Sunset Drive in August and now lives about 3 seconds away. He must have attachment issues with my parents.
Then there was Uncle Jayce, my dad's best friend.

His wife, Kristen, came too. She helped my mom a lot with her birthing techniques. Mom wanted to have a Hypnobirth but apparently the nurses and doctors "completely ignored" what my mom wanted. Even though mom says she's so happy to have me she was quite frustrated with the process here at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. But she'll get over it soon, I'm sure. Anyway, Gram and Grampa came back today and my Great Aunt Randy and her boyfriend Bob and also Tracy dropped by and held me for awhile. She said I was the most beautiful baby she'd ever seen and even cried a bit I think. Tracy was warm and I loved her right away. The doctor came and said we could go home and after the hearing test which I passed with flying colors (my dad was really impressed about this and told everyone) we packed our bags and left. Wow. What a long day.

February 9th, 2007

It's February 9th, 2007 and my mom gave birth to me at 7:10 pm.
My name is Jaffe Dawson Antzis and when my Gram Arlene saw me she was so happy she cried and then when my dad told her my name was Jaffe she cried some more. Jaffe is her maiden name. All her mascara ran down her happy face. She gathered herself, adjusted her shoulder pads and went out to tell her husband, my Grampa Stu, that he could come in to see me. We were only allowed one visitor at a time in the recovery room. My mom was lying next to me on her gurney. She kept telling the nurse she wanted to breastfeed me. She was pissed off because they weren't letting her. They told her they had to warm me up first under the heat lamp. "Heat lamp! Are you insane!" my mom says, "Give her to me! She'll get warm on my chest while I breastfeed her!" They ignored my mom and she called them assholes. I love my mom. I love my Gram and Grampa too. They're tons of fun. They're Jewish hippies from New York. My mom tells her friends that she married into a Woody Allen movie. Woody Allen is her favorite filmmaker and she loves every minute of the fabulous Antzis drama. I'm an Antzis. The first girl grandchild for my Gram and Grampa. I have two boy cousins on my dad's side. My dad's older brother Darren married a super nice lady Lisa, and they have two boys, Marlon and Noah. I can't wait to meet them. They live in Chicago.
I was 6 pounds at birth and am 18 inches long. When my mom and dad found out I was a girl they screamed and cheered. I'm gonna go to sleep now cause it's been a long day.
